The article was devoted to Zygmunt Gloger’s linguistic considerations. And also to the specific nature of his ethnographic work and the ways of obtaining material for testing. What is particularly interesting – according to the author of the text – is the ways of presenting the interdependence of peasant and noble culture. And so, Gloger claimed that the peasants had always remained under the influence of the upper classes, moreover, the peasants had never – in his opinion – been a separate, enclosed caste. And it was the nobility, who rejected the ancient Slavonic roots and ancient traditions, the peasants remained faithful to it until the end.
